Chris Biscoe has appeared as a featured soloist on more than 50 records, ranging in style from fusion, free jazz and improvised music, through contemporary jazz of the 1970s to the present day. Recent CDs under his name have explored the music of Eric Dolphy, Charles Mingus and the Gerry Mulligan/Paul Desmond partnership.
Chris plays alto, soprano and baritone sax, and alto clarinet.
Reflecting his eclectic and varied jazz background, Chris is currently working with such disparate players as improvising drum master Roger Turner, west coast influenced alto saxophonist Allison Neale, trumpet legend Henry Lowther and the dynamic altoist Tony Kofi. While the bands with Allison, Henry and Tony all involve developing new ideas around important jazz performances of the past, The Wobbly Rail 5, co-led with Pete Hurt and featuring Liam Noble, mostly deals with original compositions from band members.
