If you can play any instrument or sing and want to play jazz but lack the confidence to join in a jam session or improvise then Matt Ratcliffe’s PLAY JAZZ workshops are for you. Led by Matt Ratcliffe and friends, and working on tunes across the jazz canon, we’ll be focusing on developing the essential skills for ensemble playing, including rhythm and harmony, improvisation and dynamics in order to improve our performance skills together, and feel the joy. Our aim is for you to be able to step into Jazz Jams with a portfolio of tunes you feel ready to call, lead and solo on. If you’re up for that, come and join us in a supportive and inclusive environment. Some experience of playing jazz is helpful, but not essential and a proficiency with your instrument and basic music skills is needed.
