About the event Donovan Haffner: Alto saxophone Piano: Laurie Rich Double-bass: Harry Pearce Drums: Kai MacRae: drums ‘Donovan Haffner, winner of the ‘Jazz Newcomer’ category at the Jazz Parliamentary Awards 2025 is a south-east London born and bred alto saxophonist. Aged 11, Donovan joined the highly respected Tomorrow’s Warriors Young Artist Development Programme and was mentored by Gary Crosby OBE, Binker Golding, and Alex Davis. He proved to be a stand-out talent and, by the age of 18, he was invited to tour Italy with multi-award-winning drummer Moses Boyd. Show More

Brighton's only purpose-built jazz venue, 159 Edward Street, BN2 0JB On Wednesday, Friday and some Saturdays The Verdict becomes a live jazz venue, with a capacity of 60 in the basement clubroom. On gig nights The Verdict opens at 7 pm, and any remaining unreserved seats are sold on a first come, first served basis. The music (usually two one-hour sets) runs from about 8.30 till late.
