About

The Middlesbrough Empire are proud to once again be able to welcome the good people of Teesside and beyond through their doors following 18 months of closure in the interest of public safety due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
A year and a half on from closing and safety is still very much of the utmost importance to us here at Middlesbrough’s oldest entertainment venue which is why we have installed 4 VK102 Virus Killers. These machines, made by Radic 8, are designed to eliminate 98.9% of airborne viruses, bacteria and influenza and each unit is capable of filtering an area of 165sqm. The Empire has installed these units across their main auditorium and 1st floor rooms as we strive to make the venue safer and cleaner for returning customers.
As one of a multitude of venues across the country that reopened this summer, The Empire wants to ensure that clubbers and gig goers can enjoy a return to late night revelry in the safest manner possible. Our venue owner and manager, Ashley Wem, has said that “our aim is to make our customers to feel at ease when they return so that they can concentrate on the important thing, which is enjoying themselves inside this wonderful venue”.
This additional precaution has been taken to ensure that you, our valued customers, will be as safe from airborne viruses as possible whilst inside the venue, not just in the immediate future but for months and years to come.
