Identity
Steve Banks is a guitarist, composer, band leader and session musician.
Steve’s latest project is a quintet comprising musicians from the forefront of UK jazz
Sam Crockatt – saxophone
Rebecca Nash – piano
Henrik Jensen – bass
Mark Whitlam – drums
The Steve Banks Quintet present Steve’s original compositions encompassing powerful modern jazz, deep contemporary grooves, Brazilian influences, lush harmonies and memorable melodies.
After a 2021/22 UK tour, the quintet recorded ‘Emboldened’, an Arts Council England supported suite of Steve’s original music reflecting the response of individuals and society to global challenges. The Emboldened suite features alongside three new compositions on his upcoming debut album to be released on Stoney Lane Records followed by a June/July 2023 tour.
