Identity

Giant Folk is a trio inspired by Folk songs and Jazz standards established by their own unique flair and lighthearted sensitivity. Their first release, River Run is a two-track EP featuring the Scandinavian-inspired title track River Run and a Latin Bossa cover of Waters of March (Aguas De Marcos) by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Elis Regina.

The trio holds its roots firmly in modern jazz whilst exploring both Irish and Scandinavian folk songs and melodies. The group, who started playing together whilst at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, consists of vocals, guitar and bass, composing both original songs and stylistic arrangements of standards. Between the three of them, they have notable experience working among the music scenes in China, Hong Kong, South Korea, releasing music in Norway, all whilst being regular musicians on the South London Jazz scene. Their connection with music and nature brings them together to create a distinctive soundscape.’
