Identity

Chris Bland is a pianist from Wigan, now based in Leeds, who specialises in jazz and improvised music. After graduating from the prestigious Leeds College of Music in 2015, Chris was awarded a scholarship by the Global Music Foundation for receiving the highest piano mark in his year, letting him study with the likes of Bruce Barth, Rene Marie and Perico Sambeat as well as performing a slot at the Tuscany International Jazz Festival. Chris is a current member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has played with many prestigious musicians both nationally and internationally, such as James Morrison, Bobby Shew, Dennis Rollins, Masa Kamaguchi, Rene Marie, Baptiste Herbin, Ben Cottrell, Ed Jones, Kevin Holborough, Callum Au and many more. His current projects include his own trio, the award winning Tom Sharp Jazz Orchestra, Nel and the Elephants and The Electromagnetic Carnival.

Chris is also an experienced tutor, having lectured on the Falmouth University/Yamaha Jazz Summer School, and delivered workshops at institutions such as Leeds College of Music and Warwick School.
