Inspired by Dizzy Gillespie’s song ‘Manteca’ they blend Afro-Cuban grooves with modern jazz harmony and improvisation. Featuring piano, bass, and drums, the trio reimagines works by the likes of Dizzy, Herbie Hancock, Wes Montgomery , Joe Henderson , Abdullah Ibrahim , and Freddie Hubbard through a vibrant Latin lens. Their performances move effortlessly from fiery montunos to reflective ballads, celebrating both swing and subtlety. Rooted in tradition yet forward-looking, Trio Manteca is passionate, alive with rhythmic drive and the freedom of creative expression.
