Legacy: Coltrane and Cannonball, Tony Kofi & Denys Baptiste Quintet @ World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens

About the Programme You are cordially invited to an unforgettable evening of jazz as two of London’s premier saxophonists, Denys Baptiste and Tony Kofi , reunite to present a powerful new project. Having first performed together in the early 1990s as part of Gary Crosby’s Nu Troop, these distinguished musicians now pay tribute to the legendary partnership of Julian “Cannonball” Adderley and John Coltrane. Their performance will meticulously recreate the iconic Cannonball Adderley Quintet in Chicago album, capturing the spirit, energy, and brilliance of one of jazz’s most historic collaborations. Joining them will be Rick Simpson on piano, Mikele Montolli on double bass, and Winston Clifford on drums. Do not miss this extraordinary musical experience. About the Artists Denys Baptiste’s colossal talent – based on a powerful technique and an ability to improvise fluently and effortlessly across a wide range of musical styles – is matched only by his unfettered energy, which takes him and his audiences into the musical stratosphere. Over the years, Denys has evolved into what Time Magazine describes as “the icon of British jazz”, with a most distinctive and immediately recognisable sound. Tony Kofi is a British Jazz multi-instrumentalist born of Ghanaian parents, a player of the Alto, Baritone, Soprano, Tenor saxophones and flute. Having ‘cut his teeth’ in the “Jazz Warriors” of the early 90’s, award-winning saxophonist Tony Kofi has gone on to establish himself as a musician, teacher and composer of some authority. His fluent and fiery hard-bop style makes him constantly in demand. Past Performances
