Jazz Leeds @ Seven Arts

Doors: 1.00pm Music: 1.30pm British pianist and composer Gabriel Latchin has made a name for himself as one of the UK’s finest musicians, praised internationally by critics and world-renowned musicians alike. Known for his effortlessly swinging feel and compelling performances, Latchin was recently praised by Dave Gelly in The Guardian as “the best straight-ahead jazz pianist to appear in the past few years.” Jazzwise recently described his playing as “impeccable… the clarity of his lines evoking something of Hank Jones or Tommy Flanagan”. “The Man I Love” his trio’s fifth record, is a heartfelt tribute to the enduring work of George and Ira Gershwin featuring new arrangements of all-Gershwin favourites, including Summertime, Someone to Watch Over Me and I Got Rhythm. His interpretation of these favourite songs from America’s pre-eminent composer and lyricist will draw on influences such as Claude Debussy, Bill Evans and John Coltrane. “Gabriel is an excellent musician and one hell of a nice guy” Christian McBride Support £12 (£10 concessions in advance) Book Tickets
