Virtuoso pianist, bandleader, composer, arranger and broadcaster, Julian Joseph is the undisputed heir to the global house of jazz. Acclaimed by critics and audiences the world over, Julian never fails to inspire with his mastery of the keyboard, the versatility of his musicianship, and the seemingly limitless scope of his creative imagination. He was the first black British jazz musician to lead a series of concerts at Wigmore Hall in London and the first to open the prestigious BBC Proms with his All-Star Big Band as headliner. He has built an outstanding reputation as a performer and composer as well as received recognition as a highly knowledgeable and engaging anchorman, music ambassador and advocate of culture. Julian Joseph has composed works for solo piano, small ensembles, big band and symphony orchestras. During his career, he has received major commissions from the BBC, Hackney Music Development Trust, City of London Festival and London Jazz Festival. Joseph never ceases to inspire with his mastery of the keyboard, versatility of musicality and boundless creative imagination. In the Jazz in the gardens at World Heart Beat concert Hall, the charismatic musicians of the Julian Joseph Trio will perform a selection of the most beautiful standards from the jazz classics, as well as original compositions of Joseph himself. The musicians performed together last year at the opening for the Brazilian trombonist Joabe Reis’ first ever London performance, the Happy Streets Festival , a private summer BBQ party in Wandsworth, and as part of the Battersea Jazz Festival , opening for the much-anticipated Celebrating Cannonball Adderley concert, dedicated to one of the great musicians of jazz history.
