James Allsopp Group @ East Side Jazz Club
TIME: 8.00 – 11.00PM TICKETS: £15 PERSONNEL James Allsopp – sax Chris Batchelor – trumpet Tom Herbert – bass Zands Duggan – percussion Dave Storey – drums This group of James plays his original compositions and brings together a new lineup featuring trumpeter Chris Batchelor (Loose Tubes) electric bassist Tom Herbert (Polar Bear, Beth Gibbons) percussionist Zands Duggan (Melt Yourself Down) and rising star Dave Storey on drums. Our album has been produced in collaboration with Ben Lamdin (Nostalgia 77) and the psychedelic, dub aesthetic of the production enhances and deepens the atmosphere of the record. This is joyous, life affirming music. Deceptively simple, deeply melodic with a healthy dose of the other worldly. “A sonic journey that balances structure and spontaneity, intellect and emotion…exhilarating and transcendent” Jazz Chill blog “A successful variety of spaciousness and pulsating momentum…with imaginative interplay between the reeds” 3.5* Jazzwise magazine “Our final selection of the year comes from excellent returning saxophonist James Allsopp. On Stars and Sand he shows all aspects of his range as a player and composer.” One Jazz album of the week Featured radio play on BBC radio 3 and 6, Jazz FM, RTE, Dutch, Canadian, French and US radio
