Doors 7:45 PM, Music 8:30 PM – 2 sets of music Line-up: Alice Leggett – Alto saxophone Alex Hitchcock – Tenor saxophone Miles Mindlin – guitar Freddie Jensen – Double bass James Maddren – Drum kit About: Alice returns to the Vortex two years after performing with the original ‘Reunion Band’ in summer 2024 for another one-time special evening involving some of her favourite London-affiliated musicians. The majority of the musicians in the first and second lineups are or have been based in New York and Europe, providing additional excitement and energy from their diverse life experiences. The initial reunion band ignited Alice’s compositional journey, influencing and inspiring her subsequent collaborations. Alice’s debut album, ‘Birdsong,’ features songs first debuted at the Vortex, and she has subsequently embarked on two tours in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Collaboration and community are key aspects in Alice’s lineups, and all of the musicians featured have embraced these characteristics with her throughout the years, resulting in deep creative connections. This concert will include both new material (which Alice will record with her sextet (including Alex Hitchcock, Alexandra Ridout, Noah Stoneman, Tijs Klaassen, and Wouter Kühne) this summer) and older material from “Birdsong.”
