Internationally-known chromatic harmonica player and percussionist Phil Hopkins and his trio celebrate the richly-varied musical output of the greatest jazz harmonica player Toots Thielemans (1922-2016). In a long career, Thielemans’ expressive harmonica added magic to the recordings of a pantheon of jazz greats including Benny Goodman, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Quincy Jones and many more. In this concert, Phil Hopkins traces Toots’ career in a musical travelogue from Brussels to New York and Rio – via Sesame Street! Phil is joined by the fantastic pianist Liam Dunachie and Marianne Windham on bass.
