THE HORSENECKS: Playing original and traditional Old Time, folk and roots music, The Horsenecks are Gabrielle Macrae and Barry Southern. Based in Astoria, Oregon, they are two award-winning multi-instrumentalists who have come together from traditional music backgrounds and found a sound that weaves through layers of influence that include early Appalachian fiddle and banjo music, classic country, early bluegrass and original folk inspire by the traditions they have spent their musical lives steeped in.

Our dream was to create a place where we could share music that we loved – somewhere with a laid back, intimate and friendly atmosphere. Becoming friends in our school days, the seed for our idea was planted many years ago. After lots of hard work, many ups and downs, and learning more than we ever could have imagined along the way(!), our dream became a reality when Green Note opened its doors in the Summer of 2005.
