SOME KINDA WONDERFUL PRESENTS: ‘THE WONDER OF STEVIE’ FEAT. NOEL MCCCALLA & DEREK NASH

Two of the UK’s finest musicians, saxophonist Derek Nash, singer Noel McCalla and their band come together to celebrate the music of one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, Stevie Wonder. An award-winning player, Derek Nash is perhaps best known as one of the featured saxophonists with the Jools Holland Band and leader of the enormously successful “Sax Appeal”. Noel McCalla first came to prominence in the mid 80’s with the seminal Jazz/funk band Morrissey/Mullen, subsequently joining the iconic Manfred Mann’s ‘Earth Band’ with whom he toured and performed for almost 20 years. This is a uniquely powerful, feel-good show!

ADRIAN COX QUINTET ‘THE NEW ORLEANS CLARINET’ WITH SPECIAL GUEST LOUISE BALKWILL

Adrian Cox is of the leading exponents of the New Orleans clarinet. His unrivalled feel and virtuosity have led to work with the biggest names in jazz, including concerts with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. A former member of Kansas Smitty’s (“London’s new swing princes”, Evening Standard), Adrian’s wealth of knowledge of the music and players from this celebrated era will take you on a trip from New Orleans to New York, from the small groups to the legendary vocalists such as Irma Thomas and Ella Fitzgerald. The band this evening features the award-winning singer Louise Balkwill, along with fellow Smitty’s alum Joe Webb on piano and the wonderful Denny Ilett (known for his work with New Orleans legend Lillian Boutté) on guitar.
