GAZA BABY

RHYTHMEARTH TRIO

ConnectsMusic is deeply moved to share this heartfelt, poignant and important song.

We are indebted to the beautiful voice and heartfelt performance of Palestinian/Irish Singer Sara Dowling along with a band of fabulous big hearted musicians – Nick Walters trumpeter, Tom Smith bass, and Chris Allard drums/percussion, and composer pianist, Nic Saunders.

Nic says:

“I wrote this track as a response to the horror of so many children and innocents murdered every day in Gaza, particularly the thousands of babies slaughtered before their first birthday. Children must always be protected and never come under fire. All the musicians and recording engineers have given their services for free and ALL proceeds will be forwarded to MECA (Middle East Children’s Alliance).

Nic also says “Sharing this as perfectly describes my motivation – from an interview with Omar El Akkad. Thought it’s apt as an explanation.

As artists:

“There comes a certain point where you have to contend with the highest purpose of art which is to say something about being human. And so it becomes impossible for me, as much as I want to, and I tell you now, and this is an act of cowardice on my part, I want to go back to writing about the moon. I want nothing more than to retreat to my comfortable home on the launching sites of the missiles where my tax dollars pay to kill these kids. And I want to disappear and write my silly stories and live in the art because I have the privilege of all those things.

There’s just a certain line that has been crossed where I can no longer call myself a writer when I have abandoned too much of the obligation to say something about what it means to be human by looking away from this. And so I tell you as a coward that I would much rather not have written this book not have been put in a position to write this book I don’t know what this book is going to do, if anything. But you have to at some point wonder what the hell it is you are?”

From our hopes and our dreams. Many people will live.
In the land that we love.
In the land of our home.
Many people will thrive.
In the land that is ours.
The land of our home.

From our hopes and our loves.
From the lives we have grown.
In the land that we tend.
From the earth of our home.
Many people survive.
In the land that is us.
The place of our home.

We will live. In this land.
We will find lasting peace.
Songs of peace. Will survive.
————- . Will Survive.

From our hopes and our dreams. Many people will live.
In the land that we love.
In the land of our home.
Many people will thrive.
In the land that is ours.
The land of our home.
