“It’s a love song with a twist”, says Saunders. “When a relationship fails — it hurts, but ‘Floating’ is about taking accountability; knowing and accepting your role in the blame game. Realising, ‘Oh, that was totally my fault,’ taking emotional stock, learning from it, and moving forward.

“When I write songs like this, I see it all in pictures, and I use words and music to describe the scenes in my imagination.”

“I sing this live paired back with just me on voice and keys, but for this new single I decided to go full-on ‘Emily-style’ production with multilayered choruses of synth, guitars, and voices, contrasting with ‘lone’ verses representing an honest, reflective voice telling a story and sharing an experience.”
