We honour Chick Corea’s legacy of exploration, preservation, and expansion of jazz tradition. His artistic legacy will live on through his works and his online Chick Corea Academy, which focuses on four key areas: creativity, knowledge, imagination, and improvisation.

Chick Corea, the 27-Time Grammy-Winning Jazz Legend, Pianist and Composer was and continues to be one of the most influential musicians in jazz. But how did it all begin and how can you connect with his Academy?

From a young age, Chick Corea’s passion for music was evident. Chick’s father, a trumpeter who led a Dixieland band in Boston in the 1930s and 1940s, introduced him to the piano at the age of four. His journey as a musician started with exploring various genres, but it was jazz that truly became the canvas for his creativity.

Chick Corea had an incredible ability to connect with his audience on a deep level. Whether performing in an intimate club or a grand concert hall, he made everyone feel like they were a part of the musical experience, inviting them on a musical journey they would never forget.

Beyond his incredible solo performances, Chick Corea was a master collaborator, engaging in musical dialogues with fellow artists of the industry. He embraced fusion, bringing together jazz with elements of rock, Latin, and classical music, creating a rich palette of sounds that defied boundaries and pushed the limits of musical expression.

The Chick Corea Academy:

Chick wanted to create a platform for artists because he believed that if he is ‘’…able to help another musician to pursue a life in music, this is something very positive.’’

The Chick Corea Academy is more than just an educational platform; it’s a dynamic and interactive community. Designed for musicians, artists, fans, and anyone curious about learning from one of the most celebrated and accomplished musicians of our time, this live community allows members to engage with and learn from one another.

Well, the whole idea of the academy has really been going on for years. Ever since I started teaching master classes and speaking to youngsters. Even before that I would get fan mail with musicians asking questions about how you do this and that.

Chick has touched an astounding number of musical bases in his distinguished career, from straight ahead to avant-garde, bebop to fusion, children’s songs to chamber music, along with some far-reaching explorations into symphonic compositions, while keeping an awe-inspiring standard of brilliance.

And even though Chick Corea is no longer with us, his active academy and music works will live on, and his music legacy will continue to inspire future generations.
