These jazz celebrations push the bounderies of contemporary interpretative styles. It’s going to be a young and fresh form of Jazz and the line up reflects this approach – particularly on the main stage where the acts cannot be easily put into one genre. Those who want to enjoy pure jazz are welcome to take a look at the second stage which is arranged as a jazz club. There established as well as national and international newcomers are invited to present their mastery.
Because one day of Jazz is not enough the Jazz festival will start on Friday June 17th at 6 p.m. We are looking forward to a nice evening with music from Afro-Carribean Jazz from FRA FRA SOUND (Netherlands) up to Austrian Jazz interpretations from THREEO, MARTIN REITER TRIO and the SUPERFLY RADIO ORCHESTRA. Following that DJ JÜRGEN DRIMAL (Radio Superfly) and DJ MR. DETUNIZED (Jazz Pub Wiesen) will present you the most highly regarded highlights of the Jazz festival’s 40 years history.

We look forward to THE ROOTS who can be localized somewhere between jazz and hip hop. As the house band of Jimmy Fallon’s famous “Tonight Show” they are rarely on tour in Europe. A nice and indeed scarce opportunity to catch them live in Wiesen. Also on stage: British retro soul singer MICHAEL KIWANUKA as well as the DONNY MCCASLIN GROUP who worked closely with David Bowie on his last album. You should also look out for SELAH SUE, a young singer songwriter from Belgium, the Spanish jazz fusion formation PATAX as well as THE HARLEM SESSIONS directly from New York. KOMPOST 3 feat. MIRA LU KOVACS and ROBB represent the Austrian part. The French-British producers HORNDOGZ complete finally the Line Up for Saturday. We are happy to have them!

Some of you may remember the gospel masses that used to take place at the Jazzfest weekends. We decided to revive this tradition and invite you all to join the “Austrian Gospel Mass” which will take place at 10 a.m. at the mainstage. JAZZ TRIO 57 and the CHOIR SOUNDHAUF’N will celebrate in a breathtaking service. Afterwards we will have a Jazz Brunch at the second stage with Wiesen associate Uschi Zezelitsch and her Jazz formation SERAFINA.
