About

The Old Hairdressers is an independent arts centre situated on Renfield Lane opposite Stereo. Although its interior hasn’t undergone any sort of substantial decor project, the walls have been stripped back to reveal the building’s striking original design. This, along with the bare lightbulbs strung from a height and a lavish cornice, creates a stark but elegant setting for the ground floor bar. Here they serve a modest but thoughtful curation of spirits and draughts that can be enjoyed at the mismatching tables looking out onto the lane, or up the wooden staircase in the mezzanine.
The top floor makes up the main exhibition space; a large empty room that is used for exhibitions, installations, meetings and performances. The venue intends for its spaces to be flexible, diverse and adaptable to multiple purposes, and this laid-back approach has ensured The Old Hairdressers plays host to a range of exhibitions, screenings and performances most nights of the week. It should be mentioned that if any of the exhibition spaces take your fancy, it’s worth getting in touch. Maybe you’ve just stumbled upon the ideal venue for that edgy wee shindig you’ve been meaning to throw…
