About

This pub originally traded as the Elms and was constructed in 1936 to a design by A E Cogswell, replacing an earlier tavern of the same name that had existed since at least the mid 19th century. An art deco theme prevails here, with vinyl upholstered seating and varnished tables with chrome legs. Various framed retro posters of American images are displayed on the wall beyond the far end of the bar counter.
The pub operates discount schemes for students & Royal Navy personnel. DJs perform at weekends.
