SoSaLa
Omar Khayyam in New York
“Hearing the eight tracks for the first time since ‘93, knocked me out! I was struck by how much the core sound is indebted to the abstract and chaotic aggression of No-Wave, albeit re-interpreted fifteen or so years after the birth of the original movement.” - Mark C (Live Skull) -  SoSaLa has released a retrospective recording which looks back to 1993; when music was made at a special time and with special musicians. For fans who are interested in SoSaLa’s interesting and accomplished music career, this retrospective album is a must. The music on this album comes from the No Wave and post-No Wave scenes in New York, and out of the free jazz scene. There is a very distinct connection here between harmolodics and bands such as Live Skull, John Lurie and the Lounge Lizards, and James Chance and the Contortions.Reg, this track: another multi-lingual track (English and Farsi), SoSaLa expresses his deep respect for Iran’s culture and history. In this song he imagined Omar Khayyam (1048-1131: famed Persian astronomer, mathematician, and poet) being in modern day New York and how he would fit in.                                                                            SoSaLa: flute & vocal. Mark C: guitar (r/c). Toshimaru Nakamura: guitar (l/c). David Motamed: bass
