Klaipeda Jazz Fesival is the international event and has the status of the city festival. The motto of the festival is “Good music for good people”. It reflects the purpose of the festival for the jazz and world music lovers of various ages, educational background, music taste in Klaipeda city and in the whole Republic of Lithuania.
The festival became an important part of the cultural life in Klaipeda city and Lithuania since the 10th anniversary in 2003. The performances of such masters as Toots Thielemans, Billy Cobham, Maynard Ferguson, Jean Jacques Milteau, Mike Mainieri, Jim Beard, Victor Bailey, “Chico & The Gypsies” (former “Gypsy Kings”), “Dutch Swing College Band”, Hiram Bullock, Steve Logan, “The Jive Aces and many more, on the Klaipėda Jazz Festival stages have increased a number of people who care about art, beauty, and, of course, jazz. For these eleven years all the performances have stayed free of charge and they will stay the same in the future. Even workshops and open lessons for students of music schools and Klaipeda University Faculty of Arts are free of charge.
