Jazz Masters 2009 Top concerts in an intimate setting World famous artists, interesting innovators and talent from the Euroregion (a large area around Maastricht including parts of Belgium and Germany) will perform in Maastricht on the stages at the Theater aan het Vrijthof. Friday March 20: the main stage is devoted to crossover with jazz and pop singer Gino Vannelli and the Brazilelectro band Zuco 103. On the other stages: the Belgian pianist Michel Bisceglia, and Bender Banjax, winner of the Jazz Ghent Young Talent Competition 2008. Entertainment by the piano trio The Tri-Tones. Saturday March 21: two outstanding solo concerts by pianist Brad Mehldau and guitarist Philip Catherine. Young talent is represented by César Latorre, finalist of the Jazz Hoelaart 09 competition, and the Jazz Ensemble of the Maastricht Conservatory. Jazz piano entertainment by the trio of Arne van Coillie. The Jazz Masters is the epiloque of ‘During Tefaf’, a cultural festival with a choice of theatre, classical music, dance and jazz, that takes place during the days of the world’s most important art fair ‘Tefaf’.
