One of the UK’s most accessible jazz-funk artists, James Brown is Annie (JBiA) met in a piano bar, rehearse next to a sex shop, and take their name from an Eddie Murphy SNL sketch.
The Scottish sextet’s 2015 debut album was produced by Average White Band’s Molly Duncan, its second single (Get Up To Get Down), a BBC Radio Scotland ‘Single Of The Week’ in April 2016.
Having shared a stage alongside funk legends AWB, The Family Stone, and Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters to name but a few, JBiA are a regular feature at the UK’s top music festivals, have made half a dozen appearances on national television, and regularly sell out venues across the country.
As purveyors of royal, calorie-laden, whipped up funk, JBiA are the perfect band to lay down the grooves with.
The band are currently working with award-winning songwriter – former Average White Band, and Paul McCartney Band alumni – Hamish Stuart on their second album.
