About
Chequer Mead is a purpose-built theatre in East Grinstead, Sussex serving the South East and surrounding areas. The theatre is host to over 250 performances annually as well as private functions, meetings, classes and other events.
Chequer Mead is the only purpose built theatre and arts centre between London and the South coast – comprising the original Victorian school after which it is named. The centre opened in 1996 with the addition of a 320 seat auditorium which now hosts over 250 events each year. With a number of meeting rooms and studios we host a wide range of artistic activities for all ages and interests making Chequer Mead at the core of culture in East Grinstead and the surrounding area.
