Devoting his career to championing the music across the UK and into the far corners of the world, he has forged a reputation beyond his formidable skills as a performer and composer to become universally recognised. At the core of his art is an insightful and gifted composer whose craft transmutes his jazz universe into a descriptive and engaging sound uniquely his own. Robert Fokkens is a South African composer based in the UK. His work explores a range of influences from traditional South African music to 20th – and 21st -century experimental music, via jazz, electronic dance music and the classical canon, creating a music characterised by twisted cycles, rhythmic energy, and microtonal inflections.
