Cambridge Modern Jazz is one of the longest-established and most successful jazz promoting organisations in the UK.It was founded in 1972 by Joan Morrell, who ran it until her death in 2011. Given the ups and downs of running such an organisation, this required great dedication and tenacity. Over the years it has operated in several venues around the city; these have ranged from pub rooms to restaurants, night clubs and even the idyllic surroundings of Kettle’s Yard, one of the country’s leading modern art galleries.
