Description Captivating Jazz vocalist and composer Nel Begley joins award-winning pianist and composer Paul Edis for this special duo performance at the Globe. Including music from Nel’s beautiful 2025 album entitled Small Flame alongside some of Paul’s original compositions, you can expect to hear melodic, groove-based music rooted in the jazz tradition, including rich harmonies, the influence of Latin America and beyond! Nel Begley – Voice Nel is a London-based jazz singer and songwriter, recognized for her captivating performances that have taken her across the UK and around the world. A scholarship graduate of both Leeds Conservatoire and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she has contributed her talents to a variety of projects, including her work as a vocalist and composer for “Rafe’s Dilemma,” as well as performances with The London Vocal Project and The After Hours. In addition to her performing career, Nel is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians through teaching on courses run by Global Music Foundation, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and NYJC. Her enchanting performances have delighted audiences at renowned venues and festivals, including the Manchester Jazz Festival, The Vortex, Pizza Express, Ronnie Scott’s, Leeds Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, and Jamboree Barcelona. Nel’s music has received significant endorsements from Arts Council England and the Northern Line Scheme, underscoring her influence in the vibrant music scene Paul Edis – Piano Paul Edis is one of the leading creative musicians in the UK today. As a performer, composer and educator, he has built a reputation for consistently delivering new and original ideas, seeking to innovate within his work whilst always paying respect to both the Jazz and Classical music traditions. In whatever genre or musical context he inhabits, Paul is passionate about melody and expression. He has released several critically acclaimed recordings of new music in recent years, regularly receives commissions from a wide variety of organisations, and is known for his communication skills and breadth of knowledge, working as an educator for organisations including Sage Gateshead, National Youth Jazz Orchestra and National Youth Jazz Collective. As well as leading his own sextet, trio and performing solo engagements, Paul works regularly with vocalist Jo Harrop. Their album ‘When Winter Turns To Spring’ won Best Album at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2023. Paul has collaborated with saxophonist Vasilis Xenopoulos for 20 years, and he has performed alongside other leading jazz names including Jon Faddis, Alan Barnes, Bruce Adams, Nigel Price, Jim Mullen, Tim Garland, Julian Siegel, Tony Kofi, Steve Waterman, Iain Ballamy and Mark Nightingale.
