Raised in Barcelona, Carles’ musical journey with the bass started with the Spanish music scene in numerous bands, Galeria Onírica, Diego Cortés, Salsa de Verano and Latidos. Carles was classically trained from an early age at the Barcelona Conservatoire, followed by jazz studies at AJMM, a satellite of Berklee College. Jaco Pastorius was an early influence and Carles had obtained a scholarship to study with him just before Jaco’s untimely death. After a stint in London, Carles settled in Monmouthshire where he has created numerous compositions for the BBC, ITV and many more UK television channels. He currently plays with the jazz band “Nuadha Quartet” but continues to seek collaboration with other musicians and bands to further explore the music he loves.
