About

Karamel N22 | powered by Collage Arts | provides a platform for artists and musicians with curated live music performances in and around Wood Green.

We have built up a solid reputation of top quality music, in the company of local rising stars, singer-songwriters and established musicians, including: Noah Stoneman, Miles Mindlin, Henry Lowther, Dave Green, Paul Clarvis, Bruce ‘Mississippi’ Johnson, The Brass Monkeys, Miguel Musiq, Jay Phelps and many more.

Nestled in the Wood Green Cultural Quarter deep within the heart of Collage Artspace 1&2, Karamel has supported a thriving community of musicians, producers, artists and creative businesses. Winning a Time Out awards in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, Trip Advisor choice award 2020, the space has become renowned for Live Music, Jazz, World music, Spoken Word and for showcasing the best in emerging talent – with the occasional legend thrown in the mix. In true collective style, the artwork that lights up the walls is all sourced from some of the world renowned artists residing within the building. Many of the venue staff are fellow creatives, and we’re all proud to be part of an arts charity, Collage Arts, that has helped a diverse community make music and art for over 35 years. Karamel has been Wood Green’s best kept secret for too long.

A tightly curated music program from a diverse family of promoters brought together by Collage Arts have brought in well over 500 acts over the past decade. There’s been the cream of upcoming talent in the songwriter world via promoters and collectives such as Karousel Music, Success Express, Prodigy Management, Raestar Promotions, and Tomorrow’sWarriors; to Ronnie Scott’s finest players brought together by Stu Butterfield – and of course, some absolute Jazz and American Songbook greats like Jacqui Dankworth, Charlie Wood, Paul Ryan and Kenny Clayton. A host of legends from double Ivor Novello winning Squeeze maestro Chris Difford; 6Music’s legendary political songwriter and artist Tom Robinson; Reggae and Lover’s Rock great, Mr Dennis Bovell; Tom Baxter; Matt Deighton; Chris Helme; Magic Numbers Michele Stodart; Mercury Nominee Kathryn Williams and Level 42’s Mike Lindup; to Roachford, Jason Rebello, Fairground Attraction’s Mark Nevin, Omar and many more. We’re very proud to give our audiences a glimpse of future success – Jamie Lawson went on to a number one album shortly after playing Karamel, Fiona Bevan wrote a number one for One Direction; Blair Dunlop won BBC Young Folk Artist of The Year, and Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker won BBC Folk Artist of The Year – to name a few.

We’re particularly proud of our vibrant World Music scene with the ever popular ZeroClassikal, Zantogola and Mehfil Nights which have pushed the boundaries of collaboration while bringing the best of World to a new audience. But more than anything, Karamel are proud of the warm welcome we give our audiences and the way we treat the acts.

We believe that if the act feels treasured, then the audience will see them at their best. We’re looking forward to welcoming you into that atmosphere for a new season of eclectic musical magic.

The theatre can be hired exclusively at reasonable rates and provides a memorable setting for anniversaries, away days, film shoots and rehearsals.
