Beacon Arts Centre is a registered Scottish charity and exists to provide life enriching creative, social and work training experiences. The Beacon aspires to offer the widest choice of affordable arts and cultural activities to everyone in Inverclyde.
The Greenock Arts Guild was founded 1946 as a receiving house for touring shows, a producing house (with half the performances produced and performed by amateur groups) and a place for classes and workshops in music, art and drama.
The Guild served the local community brilliantly from 1947 until 2012 before the Beacon opened its doors in2013, providing a new home for the Greenock Arts Guild and an evolving future. Our new iconic waterfront venue, designed by LDN Architects is a key cultural component of the regeneration of Inverclyde’s former industrial land, maintaining and extending the cultural life in Greenock by means of a new, contemporary and accessible venue for the whole community.
